Sambalpur: Hirakud Dam Authorities Fully Prepared for Flood Management; 24-Hour Control Room to Open from June 1

Sambalpur: With the monsoon season approaching, the Hirakud Dam authorities have started preparations for effective flood management. As part of this effort, they will open a 24-hour control room from June 1, 2025, to manage and exchange all flood-related information.
Control Room Details
The control room will operate from the Master Control Station in Burla. According to a directive (Letter No. 2589 dated 19/05/2025) from the Chief Engineer of the Mahanadi Basin, the control room will function continuously from June 1 to October 31, 2025.

To ensure uninterrupted communication, the control room will provide a landline and a mobile number for public use. These are:

Both numbers will remain active 24/7 during the flood season.
Backup Plans in Place
Additionally, the directive states that if the Chief Engineer and Basin Manager of Mahanadi Basin, Burla, are absent for any reason during a flood situation, the Additional Chief Engineer of the Hirakud Dam Circle, Burla, will be authorized to take any critical decisions related to flood management.
Furthermore, the Executive Engineer of the Mahanadi Division, Burla, will assist in all related operations.
This coordinated effort aims to ensure timely action and smooth communication during any emergency arising from floodwaters.
