Sambalpur: Security Lapses at Vimsar Raise Concerns; Mobile Stolen from TB Ward, Complaint Filed at Burla Police Station

Sambalpur: Despite tight security at Vimsar, thefts continue to rise due to lapses in duty. While many security guards remain posted at the parking area and main road, there is reportedly no security arrangement in the TB ward. As a result, miscreants are freely roaming in that area.

Theft Reported from Patient Helper

Recently, a mobile phone belonging to a patient helper was stolen from the TB ward. A complaint regarding the incident has been filed at the Burla police station.

According to the report, a helpless woman from Jharsuguda was brought to Vimsar for treatment by the organisation Mission Aashra. She was admitted to the TB ward on Tuesday. Two Mission Aashra staff members, Pratima Bhoi and a colleague, were attending to her.

Theft Discovered in the Morning

On Wednesday night, Pratima had placed her mobile phone inside her bag and went to sleep. However, on Thursday morning, she noticed her mobile phone was missing. Moreover, her belongings inside the bag were scattered, indicating someone had tampered with it. She also reported that the thief had even removed the mask she was wearing while asleep.

Police Investigation Underway

Following the complaint, Burla police have started an investigation. Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about the lack of security in specific wards of the hospital, even though the general premises are heavily guarded.
