Sambalpur: Undeclared parking on Jagannath Colony Road
The main road from the colony of the Budharaja Jagannath Temple has now been turned into an undeclared parking lot. Like the Ring Road, this street is being used as a permanent parking lot. Traffic on this important road increased even more after the construction of the railway underpass and the direct connection to Sakhipada, while the parked four-wheelers were permanently stuck at about 8 feet, or more than a third yard of the road. As a result, there are serious traffic jams during the crowds. Four-wheel-drive vehicles were jammed on both sides of the road. Within the colony there is a major kalyan mandap of the city where there are regular weddings and other activities. At that time increased traffic can sometimes lead to stagnation.
The four-wheel-drive vehicles are parked on one side in front of the Jagannath Colony pond and Shishu Park. It is mainly the residents of the colony who are parking on the road due to lack of space in their homes. As a result, people from all over the colony, including them, are facing problems. Now, with the implementation of the railway underpass, the people of Sakhipada area are using the road to reach the main market of Budharaja, Ainthapali. Similarly, the people of Budharaja, Ainthapali area are relying on this road to go to Sakhipada schools, temples and various government offices.
In addition, the Jagannath Colony is a large and densely populated area of the city, with a large population and almost all families use four-wheelers. Because of all this, the problem of the road is getting worse. Locals have demanded that the road be widened by dividing the road in the middle, removing illegal parking from the road, building public parking lots in the colony, and providing access to lighting.
