Sambalpur: The activities of the SMC are not proper, MLA
The Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation is not working properly. No work is being addressed here. Suggestions were not taken from the public on the development of the metropolitan corporation. Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayana Mishra and Rengali MLA Nauri Naik questioned who was proposing the various development works that were going on here and expressed concern that the SMC activities were going on in a vicious circle. Earlier in the day, Sambalpur MLA Shri Mishra , along with Rengali MLA Naik, arrived at the new SMC office in Durgapali to review the SMC’s activities. The SMC commissioner was absent from the office. Mr Mishra, who later questioned officials inside the office, said he had not received a satisfactory answer. Both legislators complained that the clean-up tender process cost Rs 5 lakh per ward per month for cleaning but all the rubbish remained. Similarly, since the announcement of the Metropolitan Corporation, SMCs have been run through the authorities. As a rule, the meeting is scheduled to be held every three months, as recommended by the council. There is no councilor as there is no election now. In this case, the Sambalpur MPs, the Sambalpur MLAs and the Rengali MLAs will meet and discuss the development work. No such meeting has been held since 2019. The SMC has also accused the public of ignoring it.
