Sambalpur: Delay in token arrival, farmers’ protest inside DRC office
Sambalpur: Farmers’ dissatisfaction in Sambalpur intensified today with the delay in the arrival of tokens for the sale of Rabi paddy. After the farmers entered the DRC office and sat for a long time, they went to the CSO office and shouted. Many farmers’ tokens were issued today due to the aggressive nature of the farmers.
Last year, during the Rabi harvest, farmers had to face the problem of not having one. With only 15 days to go before the sale of paddy, the farmers had difficulty selling their paddy. This time, after the farmers registered for the sale of the Rabi crop, satellite imagery was used to verify it. Through satellite imagery, the government verified whether all the plots on which the farmers had cultivated paddy were cultivated on land.
This was followed by a joint investigation into the whereabouts of the suspect. And now farmers are being called. Asked, did you farm yourself? Farmers’ organizations have taken such suspicions seriously. At the same time, tokens are not being given to sell paddy produced from the same land that farmers have cultivated. Tokens have been issued to sell small quantities of paddy. In protest, farmers rallied today. The DRS collapsed into the office and sat on the idea. The DRC Lingaraj Nayak persuaded the farmers, but the farmers remained stubborn.
Eventually the second phase of the token from Bhubaneswar came out of the idea after the token was issued. Many senior farmers, including senior farmers’ leaders Ashok Pradhan, Byomkesh Thakur, Bibhu Patnaik, Dolgobind Nayak, G. Srinu, Devendra Pradhan, Shantanu Pradhan, Pawan Agrawal, Sumanth Pradhan, Bhairab Pradhan and Bipin Vhoi, were present. The farmers, led by Byomkesh Thakur and Bibhu Patnaik, then surrounded the CSO office with some other demands.
