Sambalpur: A girl sold for Rs 60,000 was rescued, 5 arrested
Sambalpur / Burla: A young woman was allegedly abducted and sold for Rs 60,000 from Burla police station Attachkipada. Following the allegations, Burla police took immediate action and rescued the girl from Madhya Pradesh. Police have arrested five people in connection with the incident. The arrested accused are Haribol Kumbhar (37) of Attachkipada, Birendra Bagh (34) of Binpur in Sonepur, Sunil Chowdhury alias Harijan (26), Kapil Chowdhury (22) and Brajkishore Goswami (33) of Madhya Pradesh.
The 26-year-old girl was going to attend a party of the SDA Group on the 16th. But the young woman did not return at night. Family members began searching for her on Thursday, but she did not return home. At around 10pm on Thursday, a young woman called a young man and told him that a couple in the area had sold him in Madhya Pradesh for Rs 60,000. A complaint was lodged with the police on the 20th. Within seven days of the allegations, the police had arrested the accused in connection with the rescue of the young woman.
