Sambalpur: Fake medicine Telma-40 found in Sambalpur
Sambalpur: The whole state has been in trouble due to the fake drug trade. The Drug Control Department is now in action mode after the complaint of selling fake medicine under the name Telma-40 for high blood pressure. In different districts of the state, there is a steady increase in the number of cases. First, after this allegation was made in Cuttack, the search for Telma-40 medicine started. However, after confirming that fake Telma-40 drugs are being sold in the genuine pits, the drugs department has conducted a search in different districts. In Sambalpur too, counterfeit drugs have also been found. It has been reported that these fake medicines have been sold from Sambalpur outside the district as well which has now become a headache for the drugs department.
A team under the supervision of Sambalpur Drugs Inspector Satyanarayan Mallik has been conducting raids in the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation (SMC) area for the past two days. On Thursday, 2 retail and 4 wholesale shops were raided, but nothing fake was found. But fake Telma-40 (batch no-18211055) was seized from a wholesale shop in SMC area on Friday. Drugs department inspected 5 wholesale and one retail shop on Friday.
However, this fake Telma-40 medicine was found from a wholesaler. The drug department seized 14 strips of fake Telma-40 found from the said wholesaler, while many strips of medicine were found to have been sold. According to preliminary information, Devagarh and Balangir have received information that some medicines have gone from the said wholesaler. However, the counterfeit drugs that have gone out of the district have now increased the concern of the drug department. However, Satyanarayan Mallik said that steps are being taken to seize the fake medicine.
