Sambalpur: Sambalpur District Bar Association called protest for the High Court bench
Sambalpur: Sambalpur District Bar Association will continue its support to the High Court bench movement launched by the residents of the area for the rights of mother soil. The collusion of the state and central governments is working against the interests of the lawyers at present. On the contrary, the workers of Sambalpur District Bar Association are democratically elected by all the members and manage the association according to the decision of the General Council. Action against them will be considered as action against every member of Sambalpur District Bar’s Association. It has been announced by the Sambalpur District Bars’ Association that every member of the association will strongly oppose and respond to it. In view of the Supreme Court’s order to the legal council to take action against the union workers if they do not attend regular work from Wednesday 16th, the Sambalpur District Bar Association has indicated that it is ready to suffer any consequences to achieve the legal claim. Along with this, it has also announced that the court ban movement of lawyers which is going on every Wednesday will continue.
An emergency council meeting of the Sambalpur District Bar Association was held on Tuesday by President Sureshwar Mishra to discuss in detail the order of the Chairman of the Law Council of India and the letter of the State Law Council, the affidavit submitted by the Registrar of the Odisha High Court to the Supreme Court and decide the next strategy. The editor informed the members about all the above. It was then openly discussed. Many senior and junior lawyers took part in the discussion and expressed their disapproval of the suspension order passed by the Bar Council of India against the District Bar’s Association and termed it extra-judicial. It was felt that the current state and Indian Bar Councils have no power to take action against an elected union when they do not have elected representatives or workers. Therefore, the suspension of the Sambalpur District Bar’s Association was unanimously rejected in the meeting. Similarly, the members of the union strongly opposed the biased statement of the Registrar General of the Odisha High Court. In the past, the members of the High Court Bar Association had boycotted the Chief Justice’s court, even though not a single line was mentioned in the text of their agitational program or they were not discriminated against. The Odisha High Court was suspended for almost 3 months due to a minor incident. Then why was it not returned to the Supreme Court by the High Court? The High Court Bar Association has conspired to prevent the creation of a High Court bench in Western Odisha, while the Odisha High Court has remained silent without giving any opinion regarding the High Court bench in West Odisha. The opinion was expressed in the meeting that Odisha High Court has stopped this case for more than 10 years.
