Sambalpur: Tourism season begins, tourists is increasing but the condition of Jawaharlal Nehru’s Park is in disorder state
Sambalpur: The Tourist Spot Hirakud Right Dyke is packed with picnics and thousands of tourists are coming every day to visit the Hirakud area. On Saturdays and Sundays, the area is crowded with people, giving a unique look to the “Ropeway” connecting Jawahar Garden to Gandhi Minar. Every day, hundreds of people are seen in the crowd to go to it. On Saturday and Sunday, more than 700 tourists are enjoying the ropeway. However, even after the arrival of the tourist season, the Sambalpur Metropolitan Corporation (SMC) has not shown any concern. Now grass work is going on in the park which could have been done earlier. In addition to this, there are many other disorder conditions between Jawahar Garden and Gandhi Minar.
Garbage on Gandhi Minar
Every day, hundreds of tourists come to see Gandhi Minar. Before climbing the minar, a ticket of Rs. 2 is also taken from the Tourist. However, after taking the ticket and climbing the stairs to the first floor, useless garbage welcomes the tourists. There are many useless tin garbage lying there due to the irresponsibility of the SMC authorities who are campaigning for cleanliness. Due to which people have difficulty in moving there. Due to the negligence of the SMC authorities, many small children are trapped in these tins. Despite repeated demands to remove them, no one is listening As the tourist season is going on, there is a general demand to clear the garbage as soon as possible.
The fountain is not working
Many of the fountains within the Jawahar Garden are now difunctional. As the fountain has been inactive for months, SMC officials are not even bothering to repair it. Due to which tourists are not able to enjoy these beauty things made for them.
The toilet is not clean
The toilets inside the garden are not cleaned regularly. Due to the fact that tourists do not want to use them, there is a general demand for regular cleaning of the said toilets as thousands of tourists come to visit the park.
Taps are not functioning
Multiple taps in Jawahar’s garden are inoperative. A large basin has been constructed in the garden for the convenience of the people. There are three taps, none of which is running, but water is constantly coming out from a nearby pipe connection point. The authorities are not bothered by this.

Jawaharlal Nehru Park is open to the public and requires a ticket of Rs 5 to enter. But the Government officers doing their own wish. The government officials are driving their four-wheelers in the garden without any work. Not only that, the 4-wheeler is parked in the middle of the garden path. Doing parking as their own wish. On Sunday, the officer of Water Resources Department park his car in the middle of the road and block the lane and public protested because of the inconvenience caused to the traffic. It has been heard from reliable sources that many more government officials are doing the same thing when they come in park.
