Sambalpur: Urgent demand for Flyover in Ainthapali, 24 lives have passed due to accident in 1 year
Sambalpur: Ainthapali Street is the busiest street in Sambalpur. This intersection is called the gateway to the city. While the National Highway No. 53 passes through Ainthapali intersection, the Sambalpur-Jharsuguda state highway connects the intersection. 24 hours a day and night this intersection is crowded with traffic. The number of accidents has increased in this intersection area to such an extent that people are afraid to even cross this intersection. On New Year’s morning, the driver was killed after a collision with a police car, then a truck ran over a student on his way to college. After 2 fatal road accidents occurred since the beginning of the year, people’s fear has doubled. People are being agitated by the administration for the construction of a flyover on the intersection. Now, the demand for it is pressing again. From 2022 till now, 24 people have died in the accident in the area near Ainthapali Street. The intellectuals are of the opinion that only if the flyover is built, the number of accidents will decrease between the areas of Ainthapali and Remed.
However, Administration is still Silent
In the beginning of 2022, after an accident that happened near Ainthapali street, the news about the condition of the street and traffic rules was published in the news. Later, Former District Magistrate Divyajyoti Parida visited the area and ordered to decrease the intersection. Although the intersection has been shortened, the number of accidents has not decreased. Between January 2022 and January 3, 2023, 57 accident-related cases have been reported to the police station in the area of Ainthapali. Many more cases are not filed. However, among these 47 cases, 24 people have died so far. Many people are still under treatment. The accident has left many families devastated. District administration has been in talks with NHAI officials to take steps to build the flyover, which has been demanded for many years, as soon as possible.
