Sambalpur: Fraud in the name of making a labor card, took lakhs of rupees by holding them a union card

Sambalpur: Accused of fraud of lakhs of rupees in the name of making labor card. A member of Mission Shakti took lakhs of rupees and cheated them by holding them a card of a labor organization in the name of making the labor card registration of men and women of the village. After learning about the whole incident from the district labor office, these people who were the victims of fraud, went to the door of Sambalpur District Collector and complained about the incident. The district labor officer will be instructed to investigate the incident and if evidence of fraud is found, action will be taken according to law, Additional District Governor Azambar Mohanty informed the media.

According to the complaint, during the financial year 2016-17, a woman of Dhankauda Block Bishipali took money from hundreds of people in Bishalkhinda, Pithampur, Titheipali, Falsamunda and Gram panchayats on the promise of getting them Labour cards. It is known that he took 3 to 5 thousand rupees per card from each woman. Then the man held a card to all the woman and said it was a labor card. But from 2016 to 2020, the said person did not get a job with the said card. Instead, when The people asked about work, they were told that work would be found later.

After the start of Corona, the government has given allowances to workers through labor cards. However, in the hope of the said allowance, the card holders also went to the district labor office. But there are allegations that these cards were thrown away and they were said to be of no use. After this incident people came to know that the labor cards they had were fake. The said cards were not registered with the government’s labor department but were found to be cards of a union of forest and agricultural workers. The most important thing is that these union cards that people get are also fake. Each card expires on the day the worker’s name is registered. Despite frequent complaints of fraud from people in the name of labor registration card, no statutory action is being taken by the government. As this registration is done online, the illegal workers are living in the dark in this regard. Taking advantage of which, some unscrupulous persons and brokers are accused of deceiving millions of rupees from people by promising to register the labour card.
