Sambalpur: Hit-and-Run Case, Driver was arrested, the vehicle Mahindra Thar was seized
Samirpur: A Mahinda Thar SUV (OD 15S 0999) started running over people from near Church Street on Wednesday night. Not one or two people but more than 4 people were run over by the driver. Seeing the situation, some said that the driver was drunk and some said that he was trying to kill intentionally, this is a case of hit and run. From the CCTV footage video, it is seen that the driver took the suv from the right side and hit the vehicle and people standing on the left side. Then trying to hit another person was also seen.
However, the brother of Sumit Tripathi, who was seriously injured in the accident and undergoing treatment, filed a written complaint at the Sambalpur Town police station and the police registered a case and started investigating the incident. In this case, the police arrested Gaurav Prithwani (23) of A.N Guha Lane, the accused driver, and took him to court on Thursday. The police have imposed sections 279, 337 and 338 of the IPC against the accused. In this accident with a thar suv car, the damaged bullet has also been seized.
According to the information received, Sumit was starting his bullet at 8:15 pm in front of a sweet shop near Church Street, when the said thar suv came at a high speed from Ainthapali side and hit his bullet. Badal Singhdani, a pharmacist working at the district hospital standing near Sumit was injured. While Sumit’s head was cracked, Badal’s legs were broken. One by one, the thar suv hit many and run away. According to Sumit’s brother Ajit’s complaint filed at the police station, after being hit by the bullet, the thar suv hit multiple vehicles and people. A traffic policeman tried to stop him, but he did not obey. However, he slightly escaped from the fast pace of the driver, said the people.

In this incident, the town police arrested Sushant Acharya alias Muna and his son, who were driving the thar in Case No. 467, and seized the thar that caused the accident. After two and a half years, the terror of that thar suv has once again been created by the incident of wednesday night.
In the meantime, many such small accidents have also occurred through this thar. Then again, the question arises as to whether or not the drivers driving the thar suv are qualified to drive that SUV.
