Sambalpur: A Dedicated Doctor’s Selfless Service at Vimsar; Serving Patients Despite Illness
Sambalpur: At Burla’s Vimsar (Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research), Dr. Nilesh, a house surgeon, has become the talk of the hospital. Despite suffering from a severe infection himself, he continues to serve patients with dedication, putting aside his own discomfort.
Struggling with a Health Issue
Recently, Dr. Nilesh has been battling a urinary tract infection (UTI), which has forced him to take antibiotics through an IV. He even has a venflon (IV cannula) attached to his hand, and he occasionally takes injections to manage his infection symptoms. The illness also gives him high fever, but he has not let it interfere with his duties.

Balancing Duty and Self-Care
Dr. Nilesh continues his work in the first female medical unit, treating patients daily. When it’s time for his own treatment, he visits the doctors’ rest area in the department to receive his saline injections and medication. Colleagues say that while he cares for patients, he almost seems to forget his own pain.
Recognition of Dedication
Dr. Nilesh’s commitment has drawn praise from many in the medical community. His supervisor, Assistant Professor Dr. Shankar Ramchandani, commended him for his dedication to patient care but reminded him of the importance of taking care of his own health as well.
