Actor Manoj Mishra Faces Allegations of Defaming Ollywood; Complaint Filed at Cyber Police Station

New Controversy for Manoj Mishra

Actor Manoj Mishra, a well-known face in the Odia film industry, has found himself at the center of a new controversy. This comes after his repeated controversial comments about various Odia films on social media. Recently, the ‘Odia TV and Film Director’s Association’ filed a complaint with the Cyber Police Station in Cuttack, accusing him of making defamatory statements about Ollywood and its artists.

Manoj’s Social Media Criticism

For the past one and a half years, Manoj Mishra has been openly criticizing each Odia film upon its release. He uses his YouTube channel and social media platforms to make derogatory comments about individuals connected to the film industry, including directors, artists, and technicians. These comments have gone viral, causing damage to the reputation of the industry, which prompted the association’s complaint.

Association’s Stance

Initially, the association’s president, Sabyasachi Mishra, emphasized that although everyone has the right to voice their opinion, nonetheless, defaming individuals’ characters is completely unacceptable. Furthermore, according to him, specifically, the ongoing negative comments by Manoj Mishra against Odia artists are not only highly inappropriate but also severely damaging to the industry’s reputation. The association has condemned his actions and called for accountability.

Industry Leaders React

Veteran director Basanta Sahoo stated that Odia cinema is evolving, and filmmakers are now making several national and international-level films. He emphasized that many talented and experienced directors and actors are pushing Ollywood forward. He condemned Manoj Mishra’s character attacks on industry professionals as criminal.

Director Babi Islam’s Statement

Director Babi Islam also expressed frustration at Manoj Mishra’s behavior and accused him of lying and creating unnecessary drama because he could not find work in Odia cinema. Islam believes Mishra’s ongoing verbal outbursts are the result of his own personal frustrations, and warns him that he may face serious consequences for his actions.

Police Investigation Underway

Following the complaint, the Cyber Police Station has begun an investigation into the matter. Sabyasachi Mahapatra, the association’s president, along with over 30 members, was present at the police station to file the complaint. The police assured them that they would thoroughly investigate the matter.
