Sambalpur: Ainthapali Chowk Turns Death Trap; Former Additional Chief Medical Officer Dies in Truck Collision, Driver Absconds
Sambalpur: A fatal road accident turned Sambalpur’s Ainthapali Chowk into a death zone on Monday. A speeding truck hit and ran over former Additional District Medical Officer (ADMO) Dr. Bharat Chandra Das, killing him on the spot. After the accident, the truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Although police have seized the truck, they have started an investigation to track down the absconding driver.
The Incident
According to reports, the accident happened around 11 AM on Monday. Dr. Das was riding his scooter when the incident took place. As he approached Madanabati School near Ainthapali Chowk, a truck hit his vehicle. The impact was so severe that the truck ran over his head and sped away. Dr. Das died on the spot due to excessive bleeding.

Immediate Action
Soon after the accident, local residents informed Ainthapali Police. Police reached the location promptly, recovered the body, and sent it to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. At the same time, they began an investigation and seized the truck involved in the accident.
Ongoing Investigation
Currently, the police are trying to identify and arrest the driver, who managed to escape after the incident. The tragic death of Dr. Das has raised concerns over road safety at busy intersections like Ainthapali Chowk.
