All the gates of Hirakud Dams were closed
Sambalpur: The last sluice gate of the Hirakud Dam was closed at 9 am on Sunday. Probably a factor as to why they’re doing so poorly. The Hirakud Gate may no longer need to be opened as there is less chance of heavy rains in the near future. The longer the diamond water level can be maintained at 630 feet, the longer it will be beneficial.
At 8 pm on Sunday, an average of 30,281 cusecs of water was entering the Hirakud Reservoir, while the same amount of water was being pumped through various channels. While all the gates of Spillway were closed, 25,80 cusecs through the power channel, 3,734 cusecs through the Bargarh main canal, 630 cusecs through the administration canal, 125 cusecs through the Sambalpur distributor, and 240 cusecs for the industrial channel. In the last 24 hours, there was no rainfall at the top of the diamond at 0.38 mm and the bottom at the bottom of the diamond dam control room, sources said.
