Asian Para Games 2023: Pramod Bhagat clinches Gold in Badminton Men’s Singles SL 3 event
New Delhi: Indian para-badminton player Pramod Bhagat showcased his excellence at the 4th Asian Para Games by clinching a gold medal in the badminton men’s singles SL 3 event. In an all-Indian final, Pramod Bhagat triumphed over his compatriot Nitesh Kumar with a closely contested scoreline of 2-1, contributing to India’s growing medal tally in the competition.
The final was a highly competitive and thrilling encounter. Pramod Bhagat set the tone with a hard-fought victory in the first set, securing it 22-20 to take an early lead in the match. However, Nitesh Kumar mounted a comeback in the second set, leveling the game with a 21-18 scoreline. With his experience and skill, Pramod Bhagat sealed the deal by winning the deciding set 21-19, ultimately emerging victorious in the final with a 2-1 victory.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a cash award of Rs 2 crore for Pramod Bhagat on his outstanding performance in the Para Asian Games. Bhagat clinched gold on Friday in the para-badminton men’s singles SL3 event at the ongoing Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China.
Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik said, “Pramod is one of the finest competitors And is an example of sheer determination, and I would like to extend my heartiest congratulations to him. I am certain he will continue to make us proud at the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games.”
