Breakthrough Opportunity
Bibhuti recalled how his acquaintance, director Manabhanjan Nayak, noticed his rural appearance and invited him to act in the “Chi Chi Chhire Nani…” music video. Though Bibhuti had never acted in an album video or danced before, producers chose him for his natural performance skills.
Director Manabhanjan Nayak chose Bibhuti for his natural rural appearance, even though Bibhuti had no prior experience in album videos or dance. The team shot the video in Pitapali and Jamadarpali. After its initial release in 1995, the video achieved moderate success but has now resurfaced after 20 years and has achieved massive popularity.
The Story Behind the Music Video
Director Manabhanjan Nayak revealed that the song was originally recorded in 1995. In 2005, producer Sitaram Agrawal approached him to create a music video for the song. Nayak wrote a story where the hero, a poor young man, is rejected by the heroine’s family for his financial condition. While he leaves in search of work, the heroine’s family arranges her marriage elsewhere. The heartbroken hero returns, learns about the wedding, and sings the emotional song.
Unexpected Success
Manabhanjan admitted that while they were confident about the song’s quality, they never expected it to become this popular after so many years. The overwhelming response has brought both joy and surprise to the entire team.
