Biswanath Rana, a young sculptor from Gopalpur got a place in the World Book of Records by making the smallest Ashok pillar in Pencil Lead
Bahanga/Gopalpur: Biswanath Rana, a young sculptor from Bahanga Block Gopalpur Panchayat Picasta village of Balasore district has brought glory to the state by getting a place in the World Book of Records. Earlier, Vishwanath made the smallest Ashok pillar in pencil and entered the India Book of Records. As he presented his handmade statues to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik, President Draupadi Murmu, Vijay Rupani, former Chief Minister of Gujarat, and former President Pranab Mukherjee, and was rewarded.
His hand-made sculptures and artifacts adorn temples in various parts of Odisha including West Bengal, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Tamil Nadu. He has won much praise in the state and outside the state and has brought glory to Odisha.
Not only that, Biswanath built the 10-foot statue of Mother India and the 7-foot Konark Chakra made of stone in Odisha’s Raj Bhavan. In less than 2 months, he made a 0.5 cm Ashoka Pillar with a pencil Lead which took him 1 hour to build. He has been listed in the India Book of Records and World Book of Records.
