Lavish Spending Draws Criticism
The Chief Minister’s disclosure has sparked political outrage, with opposition parties accusing the previous BJD government of misusing public funds. The revelations have increased scrutiny, especially as the state prepares for elections.
Helicopter Tours and Campaigning Costs
It is worth noting that prior to the elections, V.K. Pandian had conducted extensive tours of various districts by helicopter, incurring significant costs. However, when an RTI activist inquired about the cost of these tours, the government provided a vague response, stating that the calculation was ongoing.
Political Fallout and Investigations
The political consequences of these revelations are beginning to emerge, with several leaders demanding accountability. Prithviraj Harichandan, Minister of Public Works, recently announced that an investigation is underway and that appropriate action will be taken against those involved.
