BJD Leader Prasanna Acharya Injured in Car Crash
Prasanna Acharya, a senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) politician, and former Rajya Sabha MP, was involved in a car crash on Thursday night. The accident occurred around 1 am near Beldihi in Sambalpur district when his vehicle collided with a gas tanker on his way from Bhubaneswar to Bargarh.
Prasanna Acharya and his personal security officer (PSO) were critically injured in the accident, while his driver suffered minor injuries. They were immediately given first aid and then transferred to a private hospital in Sambalpur for further medical care.
Although Acharya’s condition is reported to be stable, it has been decided to move him to Bhubaneswar via air ambulance for better medical care. Doctors reported injuries to Acharya’s head, nose, chin, and other body parts. The police have detained the driver of the gas tanker for interrogation.
It’s worth noting that Prasanna Acharya is a notable candidate for the Rairakhol assembly constituency in Sambalpur in the upcoming state elections.
