Boys football to be withdraw from sports hostel in Balangir, Sambalpur, the hostel will be empty by 15th sept
Plans to open girls’ football and swimming chains
Sambalpur: Boys football series will be withdraw from Sambalpur sports hostel. The boys football players who have been staying here since the beginning of the hostel will be transferred elsewhere. Similarly, the swimming trainees will also be sent elsewhere for now. A letter has been received from the Directorate of Sports to send football trainees to Bhubaneswar and swimming trainees to Bhubaneswar by next 15th. With these trainees gone, the Sambalpur sports hostel will be empty for now. However, not only Sambalpur, but the department has also planned for the reorganization of sports hostels like Balangir, Bhavanipatna, Phulbani, Keonjhar, Baleswar etc. Football, athletics etc. will be organized from the dormitory of Balangir. It has been reported that a new series of swimming and cycling will be opened there. However, nothing is clear yet. Even the local officials do not know exactly what the decision has been taken by the sports department. The sports department’s secretive plan to reorganize the hostel has sparked a backlash from local sports fans. Sambalpur sports hostel has 15 seats in boys swimming and 22 seats in boys football. 2 international players have emerged from here in boys football, while the hostel has excelled in national school and junior football in the past. Similarly, Santaran was referring only to Sambalpur. Sambalpur swimmers were the most successful swimmers in the state in the past. But in the past there was an attempt to remove the swimming chain from here, which was forced by the department to bring back the trainees who had gone to Bhubaneswar due to strong opposition from the people of Sambalpur. This time, however, the department has a different plan. Here the number of seats will be increased from 37 to 140. Out of that, there will be 100 trainees in both boys and girls category of swimming and undistinguished trainees in football girls category. Boys’ football will be taken up from Sambalpur, Balangir and Phulbani and senior football will be hosted in Bhavanipatna. However, Sambalpur is the only district where the department does not have its own building for sports hostel. Sports Dormitory Children used to live in stadiums and have been living in district school dormitories for some years now. The department has no provision to accommodate 140 trainees. So opening big hostels and new boys coming here does not seem realistic for now. However, football lovers are wondering why the boys here is being taken elsewhere in a hurry. It is demanded that the government clarify its position in this regard.
Sambalpur District Sports Officer Jayashree Padhi has accepted the fact that the letter has been received regarding the transfer of the child. The letter from the department has now been submitted to the District Collector. The trainee will be sent after getting the approval of the District Collector. Then our hostel or chain will not rise. On the other hand, there will be a hostel with a capacity of 140, which is about 4 times more. But it is not yet known how many children there will be, boys or girls, in which series, he said. The government has decided to reorganize the hostel keeping in mind the interest of the child. He informed that district-level hostels will work in the framework of academies and talented sportspersons will come out from here.
