Sambalpur: Burla police successfully stopped a major robbery that was being planned in the Burla area. The incident occurred when police raided a group of individuals preparing to carry out the robbery on the national highway.
Five Arrested, Weapons Recovered
During the raid, the police arrested five young men from Burla and seized several weapons. The items confiscated included two swords, a sharp knife, an iron rod, a baseball bat, and two towels. The police have registered a case and are currently investigating the matter.

Robbery Plan Uncovered
According to police sources, the incident took place on Thursday night around 10:40 PM near Mahulpali Hanuman Temple on National Highway 53. The suspects had gathered near A. Katapali to finalize their plan for the robbery. Acting on a tip-off, Sub-Inspector Debashish Khilar led a police team and successfully apprehended the group.
Court Appearance
The suspects were identified as Suraj Banerjee (24), Manas Nag (25), and Lalit Chhatria (25) from Vishnu Mandir Pada, Ganga Sendria (19) from Gandhipada, and Shiku Suna (25) from Contractor Colony. All five were presented in court on Friday.

The swift action by Burla police not only prevented a possible robbery but also ensured the safety of the local area. The investigation is ongoing to determine if the suspects were involved in similar crimes in the past.
