Sambalpur: Child Marriages Stopped in 68 Villages of Sambalpur; Declared in District-Level Task Force Meeting Chaired by Ajambara Mohanty
Sambalpur: Sambalpur district has made significant progress in eradicating child marriage through determined efforts by the administration and collaboration with various voluntary organizations. Awareness campaigns have played a crucial role in this success. As a result, 68 villages in Sambalpur district have been officially declared child marriage-free.
Official Declaration by Task Force
During a district-level task force meeting chaired by Additional District Magistrate Ajambar Mohanty, the declaration of 68 child marriage-free villages was formally announced. The meeting emphasized planning to make the entire district free of child marriage.
Focus on Collaboration and Responsibility
District Social Welfare Officer Renubala Nanda welcomed the attendees and highlighted the collective efforts required to combat child marriage. Prasanna Kumar Patra, District Development Officer and Executive Officer of the District Council, addressed the meeting as a guest and provided valuable suggestions on eliminating child marriage.

Health Department’s Role
Representatives from the health department, including the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO), DPM of NRSM, and RBSE Director, outlined their responsibilities in preventing child marriage. They stressed the importance of health awareness in reducing such incidents.
Community and Organizational Involvement
Sunita Tripathy presented detailed data on the roles of various departments in tackling child marriage. Other stakeholders, including Prashant Padhi, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, and representatives from the education department, child development projects, Mission Shakti, and NGOs, participated actively. Representatives from Hindalco also extended their support.

The event concluded with Sarita Das delivering a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants for their commitment to eradicating child marriage in the district.
