Collector and SP join in unknown dead body ceremation with SAMBAL NGO, it’s 500th dead body
The two top officials of the district administration, the district magistrate and the superintendent of police, set fire to the body of an unidentified man at the local Rajghat today. On behalf of Sambal, a voluntary organization in Sambalpur, and Superintendent of Police, B. Gangadhar joined in, laid the body on his shoulders, offered flowers and set fire to his face.
Sambal officials praised the service of the “Sambal” and said that the funeral of 500 strangers was an “exemplary service”. During the cremation, Additional District Magistrate Umakant Raj at Rajghat, President of ‘Sambal’ Dr. Shankar Prasad Pati, Executive President Panchanan Tripathi, Editor Subrata Panda, Adviser Kalidas Panda, Prakash Pradhan, Ramdas Panda, Dilip Bose, Krishnachandra Sahu, Santak Panda, Arun Azadiwal, Dilip Sahu, Himanshu Panigrahi, Shiv Mallick, Social Worker Sudhir Pujari, Govind Pujari Eng. Ashok Jalan, Dilip Panda, Santosh Das and Paltu Agrawal were the prominent participants. It is learned that since 2011, “Sambal” has carried out the cremation of 98 more people, including 500 strangers, whose bodies could not be taken to their homes due to lack of funds.
The district magistrate and the superintendent of police are taking the body to set fire to the body. Two dignitaries were present on the occasion of the cremation of the stranger and conveyed the message of this great work to the society. It was the 500th no of cremation of the “Sambal” Organization.
