Sambalpur: Contractor’s Irregularities in Road Construction; Work Halted for 6 Months, Public Outraged

Dangerous Road Conditions in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: In Sambalpur, the road connecting Khetrajpur, Badabazar, and Samaleswari Temple has become extremely dangerous. Due to its poor condition, people had been demanding reconstruction for a long time. Finally, funds were approved, and construction started after a delay. However, the work soon stopped midway, causing frustration among locals.

Public Anger Over Faulty Construction

During construction, authorities and contractors ignored key concerns. They raised the road’s height without considering the level of nearby houses, which would cause drainage issues. Many residents protested, leading to a complete halt in construction. Six months have passed, but no progress has been made.

Incomplete Road Poses High Risks

Parts of the road that were completed remain unsafe. One side is too high while the other is uneven, making travel dangerous. Since the road is narrow, accidents occur frequently, increasing public dissatisfaction.

Urgent Need for Completion

This road is crucial as it passes through Khetrajpur, a densely populated business hub with many wholesale markets, educational institutions, and heavy truck traffic. Every day, hundreds of trucks use this road to transport goods. Residents and business owners are demanding immediate action to complete the road and ensure safe transportation.
