Sambalpur: Cyber Criminals Deceived Ambulance Driver Under the Pretext of Bringing a Patient; Looted 45 Thousand Rupees

Sambalpur: A cyber fraudster tricked an ambulance driver from Goshala area under Burla police limits and looted Rs. 45,000 from his bank account.

Caller Posed as Patient Relative

The fraudster called the driver from an unknown number and claimed to need an ambulance to bring a patient from a distant location. During the call, the person asked how much the service would cost. The driver replied that it would cost Rs. 45,000.

Fake Payment Link Used for Fraud

Soon after, the caller sent a fake payment link for Rs. 45,000 and asked the driver to scan it using his phone. Trusting the caller, the driver scanned the link. As a result, Rs. 45,000 was deducted from his bank account.

Driver Approaches Cyber Police

After realizing he had been cheated, the driver immediately reported the incident to the cyber police. During the investigation, the police tracked the call and found that it originated from West Bengal.

Investigation Underway

Police have registered a case and started a probe against the accused. Efforts are on to trace the fraudster and recover the stolen amount.
