Sambalpur: Danger Looms as Tree Threatens Public Safety Near GM University; SMC Remains Silent
Sambalpur: For nearly a month, a dangerous situation has existed, with an uprooted tree leaning dangerously. However, the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) has been silent and inactive. This tree is leaning near Gangadhar Meher University, posing a constant danger to pedestrians.
Busy Area at Risk
The tree is located on one of Sambalpur’s busiest roads. From morning to night, this road is heavily trafficked. Students from Gangadhar Meher University, Kendriya Vidyalaya, and Guru Nanak Public School, among others, frequently use this road.

Furthermore, it connects Khetrarajpur and Badabazar to Sambalpur Railway Station, making it an important route for commuters, both train passengers and local residents. There are several shops nearby.
Public at Risk
The leaning tree poses a significant threat to the safety of pedestrians and drivers using this road. Despite knowing the risks, neither the SMC nor the university authorities have taken any steps to address the situation. Their silence is creating more concern among the public, who continue to use the road at their own risk.
