Debashis will study medical with the help of teachers
Dhama: The family’s financial situation was not good. He was in a position to tie the rope to the lessons due to lack of antonyms. However, Chittaranjan Pradhan, the school’s headmaster, came forward to help during such a difficult time. And with the help of that guru, the dream of becoming a doctor is now being realized by the poor student Debashis Barik. Such a strange relationship of guru-disciple has been seen in the Maneshwar block area.
Debashis Barik lives in Kanbar village of Huma panchayat in Sambalpur district. Sitaram Barik, his father, was seriously injured in an accident while studying in eighth grade at Mathura Prasad High School in Debashis Dhama. For many years he had to be bedridden. Sitaram used to cultivate paddy on his 2 acres of land and earn a living in Gujarat. The family’s financial situation worsened after the accident. Debashis found it difficult to teach. Seeing the family’s situation, Debashis stopped going to school. Chittaranjan, the then headmaster, went to his house to find out the main reason why the talented student Debashis did not go to school. After learning of all the problems, headmaster Chittaranjan decided to keep Debashis in the hostel at his own expense and teach lessons. Debashis passed the matriculation examination in 2017 with a score of 9 per cent. At the efforts of Guru Chittaranjan, he studied two sciences, including Debashis, in a four-house educational institution. After the success of the two sciences, Chittaranjan also arranged to teach at a coaching center for medical training.
Even after retiring, he continued to help Debashis. Debashis also did not allow the help of Guru Chittaranjan to be in vain. The results of the recently released ‘NEET’ test have been auspicious for him. He has scored 438 marks out of a total of 720 marks and 4203 marks at the national level. Debashis hopes he will have the opportunity to study medicine at one of the best medical colleges in the country.
“I am the son of a poor farmer,” Debashis told Sambad. There is not much land. The family’s financial situation was not good and the departmental authorities cut off the electricity connection to our house as they could not pay the electricity bill. I was reading lanterns at home. I’m going to be a good person for him today. The Chief Sir assured me that he would also assist in further medical studies. This sacred relationship of our Master disciple will always be intact. I, too, will help poor, neglected children like me in school in the coming days. Debashis said he would provide better medical care to the poor once he became a doctor.
Truly a inspiring story. “NEVER QUIT.”
Salute to the teachers.
