Delays in the construction of the Vimsar Super Specialty Building: would have ended in June, waiting for October
Burla: Construction work on the Vimsar Super Specialty Hospital building is being delayed. At a meeting last June, the contractor, HSCC, was instructed to complete the construction by the end of that month. However, at a review meeting held today, the RDC Suresh Chandra Dalei has lashed out at the contractor. The contractor had asked for a deadline to complete the work by October 30.
The four acres of land acquired by Vimsar include Kendriya Vidyalaya, NAC College, etc., and how to build a new institute, nursing dormitory, pharmacist dormitory, playground, MCH complex in the area; was discussed at the meeting. The design of the master plan, which was developed by the organization, was presented before the RDC. The RDC identified some defects in the design. He also directed that the revised design be finalized within the next two weeks. It is expected that the master plan will be developed after the design is completed. In addition, 33 areas of Vimsar land have been forcibly occupied. The RDC has ordered the abolition of encroachment in two phases. Construction of the Super Specialty Building began in 2017. Five years have passed since then and the work is still unfinished. The construction of the building started in 2017 and out of a total of Rs 150 crore, Rs 80 crore was spent on construction and the remaining Rs 70 crore on medical equipment. Bhubaneswar AIIMS will serve as the nodal center for this super specialty project.
Even after independent in 2015, the shortage of doctors in Vimsar has not diminished. Of course, there are already 5 super specialty departments, but now 5 new super specialty departments have been added. The Department of Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Clinical Hematology, Plastic Surgery and other specialties is set to open. Previously, the Department of Nephrology, Urology, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Cardiology was the Super Specialty Department. The super specialty building has 60 ICU units and 180 common beds. The construction of the superspecialty hospital has also been delayed due to delays in the construction of the building. Patients can benefit if the super specialty building is functional.
