Demand for Setting up Film Studios in Western Odisha to Anurag Thakur, Minister of Information and Broadcasting
BJP’s Kalahandi MP Basant Kumar Panda demanded to establish a film studio in western Odisha to Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur. In this spirit, Mr. Panda met the Union Minister Mr. Thakur, and submitted the demand letter. He pointed out that Western Odisha is the origin of tribal art, culture, song, and musical instruments. It provides an opportunity for the artists of Western Odisha to present and showcase their artistic skills because of the lack of film studios in the area, artists have not been able to showcase their talent.
On the other hand, 36 people from Odisha have been awarded Padma Shri by the Modi government in the last 9 years, while 70 percent of them are from Western Odisha, Mr. Panda said in the claim. He demanded that the Union Minister direct the state government to provide land for a film training school and a national film studio in Bhavanipatna for promoting and propagating the art, music, and culture of Western Odisha.
