Sambalpur: Deteriorating Toilet Facilities at Vimsar ICU, Causing Distress for Patients and Families

Poor Maintenance of Toilets Near Central ICU

Sambalpur: Patients and families at Vimsar are suffering as a result of the poor state of the toilets near the Central ICU. There are two toilets, one for men and one for women, the one designated for women is always locked. After cleaning the toilet in the morning, they store their cleaning supplies inside and lock it, leaving it inaccessible.

Shared Use of Men’s Toilet

As a result, both men and women are forced to use the men’s toilet. The men’s toilets have two stalls, one with a broken door and one that cannot be locked from the inside. As a result, while using the toilet, people must hold the door from the inside, which swings open when they wash their hands.

Inadequate Shower Facilities

There is a small bathing area inside the men’s toilet, so people must wait outside while someone uses it. This creates significant inconvenience, particularly in the morning.

Patient and Family Distress

Seeing these conditions every morning, patients and their families are in severe distress. They are afraid that complaining will have a negative impact on patient care, so they avoid raising their concerns.

Lack of Facilities in Corridor

Although the corridor near the ICU is large, it lacks fans and benches. As a result, families who stay outside the ICU overnight must stand or sit on the floor, which is extremely uncomfortable.

Call for Immediate Action

Due to the dire conditions of the toilets, patients and their families are demanding immediate improvement in the facilities at Vimsar.
