Navratri Celebrations at Samaleswari Temple

Devotees at the Samaleswari Temple have begun to gather in large numbers as part of the Navratri celebrations. Since Mahalaya, the number of visitors to the temple has increased. During Navratri, the Samaleswari Temple has lit a special “Manasika Jagar Deepa” (lamp ritual offering). Daily rituals are performed on Pratipada beginning on Thursday, October 3rd, and ending on Saturday, October 12th, which is Mahadashami. Morning Mangala Alati begins at 5:00 a.m., and devotees can offer their prayers starting at 5:30 a.m. However, the temple is closed to visitors between 11:45 AM and 1:30 PM for Annabhog distribution and Singar Besha (decorative rituals). In the evening, darshan is paused from 7:45 PM to 8:30 PM for the evening Alati, and the temple closes for the night at 10:00 PM after the final pahada (closure ritual).

Dandiya Dance Begins

In addition to the temple celebrations, the Gujarati community has begun organizing Dandiya dance performances for Navratri. Women in colorful attire can be seen performing this traditional dance late into the night, adding to the city’s vibrant atmosphere.
