Sambalpur: Eviction Notice Issued to Lakshmidunguri Residents; Appeals Made to MLA and Revenue Minister for Assistance

Urgent Notice for Evacuation

Sambalpur: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued a notice to residents of Lakshmidunguri, which is located on National Highway 53, to vacate their homes within seven days for the construction of a tunnel. The residents, concerned about where they will go during the rainy season, have demanded proper relocation before eviction. On Tuesday morning, residents met with District Collector Akshay Sunil Agrawal to request a fair resolution.

Notice of Unauthorized Occupation

The NHAI has designated the houses along the road as unauthorized and issued notices requiring evacuation within seven days. Residents, who have lived there for over 50 years across generations, support the government’s development projects but are concerned about their future as members of the poor working class. They have asked that proper arrangements be made before eviction.

Demands for Resettlement

Given the importance of the development project, the residents have requested that NHAI and the locals hold proper discussions and find solutions before eviction. Every year, landslides from the hills threaten lives and property in Lakshmidunguri. To address this, the Central Government decided to build a tunnel road. As a result, NHAI has issued notices to residents and shop owners to vacate their properties within seven days. The District Collector has promised to discuss the issue with NHAI officials.
