Sambalpur: The problem of humidity is out of control for rice procurement As the problem continues to escalate, the district farmers’ union has staged a sit-in protest in front of the district commissioner’s office. At the district level, there are many problems that need to be solved during the rice harvest. However, farmers’ problems have not been solved for the past two years. Farmers protested, alleging that the situation was “more complicated” because of the incompetence of some officials. Because the district attorney is the head of the whole system, farmers have demanded legal action.
Farmers rented cars and transported rice to miller, but had to wait two or three days outside in the harsh winter. Miller is not loading the rice by showing various signs. As a result, farmers are facing a number of problems and have to pay for agricultural loans by the 30th of this month. There is a deadline to do so. Farmers will have to pay 12.5% interest if they do not repay the loan. Due to the severe winters, the process of planting rice has not begun. Ashok Pradhan, host of the West Odisha Farmers’ Protection Organization, said there was no other way for farmers.
