Sambalpur: Hanuman Jayanti Procession to be Celebrated with Grandeur This Time; Tension Arises in Meeting Over Presence of Intelligence Officer
Sambalpur: This year, Sambalpur is all set to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti with great enthusiasm and grandeur. The main attraction will be a magnificent and divine procession, aiming to bring together thousands of people. Every household is encouraged to participate actively. Two days before the main event, a bike rally will also be organized, following the tradition of previous years.
A meeting was held today by the Hanuman Jayanti Coordination Committee to finalize the preparations. In this meeting, MLA Jaynarayan Mishra was elected as the president of the committee. Under his leadership, the grand procession will take place this year. Moreover, Babuli Panda was appointed as the working president, and Rajib Satapathy will serve as the secretary to ensure smooth coordination.
Improved Security and Participation
Due to elections and security concerns, last year’s Hanuman Jayanti procession was canceled. In 2023, all religious processions in the city were prohibited due to incidents of violence during Hanuman Jayanti. However, this year, the committee has resolved to make the celebrations more vibrant and inclusive. Efforts are underway to mobilize participation from every household, while the police have assured adequate security arrangements.

Tension During the Meeting
During today’s meeting, tension arose over the presence of a police intelligence officer in plain clothes. The officer was reportedly collecting information and recording videos of the proceedings. This led to a heated situation as some people reacted strongly, with eyewitnesses claiming that the officer was even attacked by a few individuals.
Later, the situation was brought under control through mutual understanding. The SDPO of Sambalpur clarified that no formal complaint was lodged regarding the incident. He further explained that the tension was a result of a misunderstanding and assured that no severe conflict occurred.

With the participation of the public and the assurance of security from the authorities, this year’s Hanuman Jayanti procession is expected to be one of the grandest ever in Sambalpur. The committee is actively working to ensure a successful and peaceful celebration.
