Dileshwari Meher from Sambalpur to Participate in National Republic Day Event
Sambalpur: A woman weaver from Palli, Sambalpur, will soon be heading to Delhi. Dileshwari Meher, a weaver from the Baham Panchayat, Badaturanga village in the Jujumura block of Sambalpur district, has been selected to attend the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi this year. She is one of three women weavers from Odisha invited as special guests to the event.
Recognition of Dileshwari’s Craft
Dileshwari Meher, who hails from a family of weavers and has built her independent career as a weaver, will be representing Odisha at the national level. Her work has earned her recognition, and she is excited to attend the ceremony. She expressed immense pride and joy at the opportunity to hear President Droupadi Murmu’s address during the parade.

Honoring Weavers from Odisha
This year, the State Handloom Industry Department selected three women weavers from Odisha to participate in the Republic Day celebrations in Delhi. Dileshwari is one of them. She has gained a reputation in her community for her craftsmanship and independence in the handloom sector, where she has been professionally trained and has established herself as a successful weaver.
