Kashmiri Kesar cultivation in Jharsuguda, Mrs. Sujata showed a new way of earning
Sujata Agarwal of the local market is now in the limelight for growing ‘Kashmiri Mogra Kesar’ in a hot city like Jharsuguda, not in a farm or in a farm house, but in a hot city like Jharsuguda. While Sujata started growing this Kesar from last July, she has already produced about 1 kg of excellent quality Kesar from just one 10/10 cell room. Because the production of saffron is less than the demand in the country, its prices have always skyrocketed. So if people grow Kesar indoors using the latest methods, it will be profitable to meet the demand for Kesar, says Sujata.
Sujata started hydroponic and micrograin farming in 2022. However, with the intention of cultivating something new, he came to know about Kesar cultivation after searching the internet. For this, She had to face many problems. Sujata faced the challenge of arranging Kesar seeds, proper soil conditions, temperature control, and suitable containers for Kesar cultivation. After taking the necessary training for this, he started Kesar cultivation in July. Sujata started this Kesar cultivation by spending about 8 lakh 50 thousand rupees in the first phase. The necessary Mogra Kesar seeds are procured from Kashmir and special soil prepared. He enclosed his house, installed air conditioners to control the temperature and set up a house using wood and plastic containers and started farming. Now after 4 months the first phase of Kesar has been harvested. From this, Sujata aims to earn more than 20 lakh rupees by selling Kesar, stem and flower buds. Sujata will sell this Kesar both offline and online.
