KKR Wins IPL Again, Lifts IPL Trophy After 10 Years
Kolkata Knight Riders are the champions of the IPL 2024 season. KKR won the IPL trophy after 10 years with an emphatic victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final. Shreyas Iyer’s team secured an 8-wicket win on the strength of Venkatesh Iyer’s explosive half-century. KKR chased down the easy target of 114 runs in just 10.3 overs. With this triumph, Kolkata has become the IPL champion for the third time.
In the finals, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered a humiliating defeat. Batting first, SRH were bowled out for a paltry 113 runs in 18.3 overs. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, who was bought for 25 crores, played the bowling hero for Kolkata. SRH batters were caught in front of Starc’s lethal bowling. Starc terrorized Abhishek Sharma, the hero of Hyderabad in the tournament, by clean-bowling him in the first over.
Starc then took the wicket of Rahul Tripathi, another in-form batsman for SRH, and broke the backbone of Hyderabad’s batting. After him, Russell and Harshit Rana combined to take crucial 5 wickets, destroying SRH’s batting lineup. However, when Kolkata went down to bat with a target of 114, they soon lost the wicket of the in-form Sunil Narine, but Venkatesh Iyer’s quick batting ensured an easy win for the team.
