Man Rescued from Mahanadi River
The man who went missing after jumping from the Chaunrapur Bridge has been rescued. The incident occurred around 10 PM on Friday night when the individual jumped and went missing. Today, he was found and rescued. The rescued individual is Mantos Tandi from the Sunapali area. He jumped from the second bridge of the Mahanadi in Sambalpur, drifted, and got caught in a grass patch near the Gobindtala area.
Every year, following the release of floodwaters from the Hirakud Dam, people jump from the bridge. Since the bridge’s construction, approximately ten people have jumped off. During periods of high river flow, police typically remain vigilant and advise nearby residents to avoid the area. Police have not established a permanent presence on the bridge, despite these measures, according to some claims.
