Sambalpur: Maa Pataneswari’s Suna Besha on the 10th, Village Theme and Bhajan Evening to Draw Devotees
Sambalpur: Maa Pataneswari Temple, one of Sambalpur’s most prominent religious sites, is fully prepared to celebrate Navratri in grand style. The temple’s Sharadiya Mahotsav started with a 16-day special puja on the 24th of last month. Every day, the Chandi Path is recited, creating a divine atmosphere for the celebrations. This year’s “Amar Gaon” (Our Village) theme, organized by the Pataneswari Club, is expected to draw a large number of devotees and visitors due to its unique display.
Golden Attire and Special Celebrations
On October 10th, during Mahashtami, Maa Pataneswari will wear her special golden attire (Suna Besha), which is a major attraction for devotees. On the 16th of October, the temple will celebrate Kumarpurnima with Maa’s Rajarajeswari Besha and the hoisting of a new flag.

Cultural Programs and Decorations
Along with these religious activities, the Pataneswari Club organizes cultural events and has beautifully decorated the temple grounds. A 500-meter stretch of road from Gopalji Math has been adorned with stunning lights and arches, making it a captivating sight for all visitors.
Village Theme: A Unique Experience
In keeping with the theme “Amar Gaon” (Our Village), the club has created a traditional rural scene featuring local games, mud huts, bull plowing, and cooking over a wood-fired stove. This display is expected to captivate both locals and visitors by depicting the simplicity of village life.
Bhajan Evenings
The festivities will also include two evenings of devotional music. On October 7th, Rourkela’s Swarnarekha Music Group will perform bhajans, while Sambalpur’s Soul Music Group will offer devotional songs, adding to the spiritual atmosphere.
