Shitalsashti Yatra Preparations
During the Shitalsashti Yatra, the Municipal Corporation set up a Mahadev idol at Balibandha Chhak. This long-planned installation costs approximately 15 lakhs under the Mukta Scheme. A Mahadev idol made of SRP metal was installed there. In addition, other activities were carried out to improve the site’s appearance. The Municipal Corporation also informed about plans for colorful lighting arrangements near the idol.
Reconstruction Efforts and Budget Concerns
However, before a month passed, the site began to show signs of damage again. The Corporation stated that this step was taken to correct the construction errors that occurred during the initial installation. Questions are being raised about how Engineering Department officials could overlook such flaws or issues during the idol’s installation. Because of these mistakes, the site, which cost 15 lakhs to build, must now be demolished and rebuilt.
Public Reactions and Additional Costs
To solve the problem, reconstruction work will be carried out again at the site, which will incur additional costs. Complaints are arising that the construction of roads, drains, and fiber bricks by the Municipal Corporation’s Engineering Department are of low quality. The issue was brought to Commissioner Vedbhushan’s attention, highlighting waterlogging near the idol. Therefore, reconstruction work is being undertaken again at the site.
