Sambalpur: Major Clone Check Fraud in Sambalpur; Rs. 6.3 Lakh Stolen, One Arrested

Sambalpur: Dhanupali police have arrested a man for allegedly withdrawing money using a clone check in Sambalpur. The accused, Jagannath Das (36), was arrested and brought before a court. During the investigation, the police seized documents and ₹1.5 lakh from the suspect.

Details of the Fraud

On August 17, Bharati Sahu, a resident of Rashtrapati Colony, filed a complaint at Dhanupali Police Station. She claimed that thieves stole ₹6.3 lakh from her Postal Bank and Bank of India accounts using a fraudulent check. According to the complaint, the accused created a clone check in the victim’s name and was able to withdraw a significant amount.

Arrest and Recovery

Following an investigation, the police were able to locate the accused and arrest him today. Along with the cash recovery, they have begun additional investigations into the matter. Police are investigating whether anyone else is involved in this fraudulent scheme.
