Sambalpur: Minor Dispute Turns Violent in Sambalpur; Biharipada and Bhangamunda Youths Clash Over Road Dispute
Incident at Mudipada Area
Sambalpur: In Sambalpur’s Town Police jurisdiction, a minor argument in the Mudipada-Deulbandh area led to a group clash on Sunday night. According to reports, the conflict involved youth from Biharipada and Bhangamunda neighborhoods in Mudipada.
The clash started when some youths from Biharipada were passing through Deulbandh on bikes. An argument broke out with youths from Bhangamunda over giving way. This verbal disagreement escalated into a physical fight between the groups.
Violent Attack Leaves Three Injured
During the fight, two youths, Deepak Choudhury (20) and Siddhant Barik (18), were attacked with sharp weapons. Another youth was severely beaten with sticks. One victim sustained a critical injury when a sharp weapon pierced through his left thigh, exiting from the other side. Doctors immediately transferred him to Vimsar, Burla, for advanced treatment. Medical staff rushed other injured individuals to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical attention.

Police Responds Amidst Tension
After receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. Although no formal complaints have been lodged yet, police officials have assured thorough action. The clash has left the area tense, with police maintaining a presence to prevent further violence.
Recent Similar Incident
It is worth noting that on November 1, during Diwali, a group clash in Khetrajpur resulted in a fatality. That incident had led to road blockades and protests by local residents. With this new clash occurring within three weeks, it raises concerns about the effectiveness of law enforcement and fear of the law in the region.
The police continue their investigation while local residents demand stricter measures to prevent such incidents.
