Monsoon Hits Odisha Four Days Early: Heavy Rainfall in Malkangiri
The monsoon has arrived in Odisha four days ahead of schedule. The southwest monsoon is active in various regions of Malkangiri, resulting in the onset of rainfall in several areas. Since last night, Malkangiri has experienced continuous rainfall, and today the monsoon winds remain active. The Regional Meteorological Center has informed that the monsoon will gradually become active in other parts of the state.
Notably, the southwest monsoon reached Kerala on May 30th. It has advanced over the entire southern Arabian Sea, parts of the central Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, coastal and southern interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and parts of the Bay of Bengal.
Usually, the monsoon reaches Odisha about ten days after it hits Kerala. However, this year, it entered Odisha by June 8th. Typically, the southwest monsoon arrives in Odisha around the 12th or 13th of June.
