Murder in retaliation: The accused on bail was beaten to death and thrown to the road
Maneswar / Sambalpur: Murder in retaliation. 7 months later, the accused was beaten to death in the village square. This incident took place in Gunderpur Turipada under Dhama police station. The deceased was identified as Kamal Bagh, 55 of Gunderpur. Dhama police arrived on the scene and investigation started, 4 suspects are being detained and are being questioned. However the body will be handed over to the family on Tuesday after autopsy.
According to sources, the grandson of Makhni Bagh of the village was beaten by Kamal Bagh’s son Sushil on Aug 5 last year. Makhni and Sushil’s family clashed over the incident. Outraged, Sushil, father Kamal and another woman were stabbed Makhni to death. Police arrested all three suspects and sent them to jail. The defendants were released on bail a few days ago. At around 4.30pm on Monday, Kamal came to Turipada and verbally abused the people there. He shouted accusations that he and his family members deliberately was involved in the killings. Outraged, some people in Turipara attacked Kamal with sticks. Kamal sustained serious head, arm and chest injuries. He was unconscious in a bloody state so the accused took him and threw him on the side of the Sambalpur-Subarnapur state highway.
Police rescued Kamal from the spot and rushed him to the district hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. Dhama police have since filed a murder case and are investigating. Meanwhile, after the news of Kamal’s death spread, people in Turipada were seen locked inside the door. Pradeep Sahu, Sadar SDPO , Police Chief Tarabati Pradhan reached the spot and started investigation.
