Noted Sambalpuri music director Sriram Luhar passed away

Sambalpur: Famous Sambalpuri music director Sriram Luhar is no more. He died of a liver disease at the age of 53. He was taken to Cuttack General Hospital in critical condition on Saturday evening. There the doctor pronounced him dead. The entire music world is stunned by the sudden demise of Shriram, who has sung many timeless songs.

Sriram Luhar’s contribution to the promotion of Sambalpuri language and culture through Sambalpuri songs and music is unparalleled. He has also made a name for himself in the field of Oriya music. Famous country singers like Sonu Nigam and Suresh Wadekar have also sung under his direction. Shriram, who started singing from school life, later became an EZDCC accredited bass player. Akashvani was acclaimed for its vocal and music compositions. However, his music and dance direction earned him a reputation.

Under his direction, many well-known singers, including Sarveshwar Vhoi, Pami, Shailvama, Umakant Barik, Rabiratna Bagh, Shantanu, have sung many hit songs. Not only that, under the direction of his music, the songs of many lyricists, including Ratan Pujari, Nirmala Panda, Shivshankar Pradhan, Nirmala Panda, Yatindra Pradhan Pramukh, have reached the peak of popularity. He had a special ability in everything from hymns to folk songs. Many of his cassettes have been released in “Four P” productions. As a child, he chose the music scene with the goal of creating his own unique identity. He has made history as a music director. Sambalpuri has made a name for himself by directing music for the movie Alarj.

Shriram is survived by his wife Padmavati, two sons Debashis and Anshu. Arriving at his residence in Kumbarpada, Sambalpur, Murshari today, many artists and music lovers paid their last respects to him. His funeral will be held tomorrow morning, family sources said.
