Odisha has announced an 11 percent increase in DA for government employees , pensioners
In a festive boost for Odisha government employees and pensioners, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced on Friday an 11% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for employees and pensioners with retroactive effect from July 1.
Employees’ and pensioners’ DA has been raised from 17% to 28% as a result of this. The increased DA will be credited to the October salary, according to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
Arrears from July 1, 2021 will be paid in cash to government employees and retirees this month. According to the announcement, the move will benefit over 4 lakh employees and 3.5 lakh pensioners.
Similarly, for employees with a grade pay of Rs 5,400 or higher, the GIS fee has been raised from Rs 12,000 to Rs 30,000. According to the CMO, the increased GIS fee will be deducted from employees’ salaries in ten instalments as before.
Financial assistance to employees’ family members in the event of death has also been increased. The amount has now been increased to Rs 4 lakh for employees with a grade pay of up to Rs 4,800, and Rs 6 lakh for employees with a grade pay of Rs 5,400 or higher.
Similarly, the funeral allowance for all employees has been increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.
