Odisha tops e-labor portal registration

The list of labor registries in the e-labor portal across the country. 88 lakh 35,572 workers in Odisha are registered with the portal. Odisha is followed by West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh third, Bihar fourth and Madhya Pradesh fifth. In two months, more than 4 crore workers in the unorganized sector have registered on the e-labor portal. Of these, 50.02 per cent of the beneficiaries are women and 49.98 per cent are beneficiaries, said Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav. Workers from various sectors, including construction, garment manufacturing, fisheries, gig and platform work, lifts, domestic workers, agriculture and allied sectors, and transport, are registered on the portal.

In some cases, large numbers of migrant workers are employed. All workers in the unorganized sector, including migrant workers, have been registered with the e-labor portal, with the highest number of workers in the agricultural and construction labor sector being able to benefit from the government’s various social security and employment schemes. India has the highest number of people employed in these two sectors. In addition, domestic and domestic workers, garment workers, automobile and goods transport workers, electronics and hardware workers, capital goods, education, health, 65.68 per cent of the workers are between the ages of 16 and 40 and 34.32 per cent of the workers are 40 years of age or older. Of the other backward classes and the general category, 43 and 27 per cent of the workers are registered, respectively.

Similarly, 23 and 7 percent of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are registered respectively. Employees can register online themselves through e-labor mobile applications or websites. They can also go to the Public Service Center, the State Service Center, the Labor Facility Center, and the Digital Service Center at the post office in certain post offices to register on the portal. It will be acceptable to take advantage of social security schemes across the country. If a worker registered on the e-labor portal dies in an accident, his or her close relatives will get an insurance policy of Rs 2 lakh and workers will be entitled to Rs 1 lakh in case of partial disability.
