Sambalpur: New Development Plan on Union Minister’s Advice; Municipal Corporation to Collaborate with Delhi’s SPA

Sambalpur: In a major step toward modern urban development, Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi. This collaboration aims to transform Sambalpur into a well-planned city by focusing on structured growth based on current needs.
Guidance under Union Minister’s Advice
This agreement was signed under the direct guidance of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. As per the MoU, SPA will conduct detailed studies and provide strategic advice to SMC for developing the city in a holistic manner.

Joint Efforts for Comprehensive City Growth
According to the agreement, both institutions will work together to achieve all-round development of the city. The key areas of focus will include preparing improved urban land use plans, preserving heritage sites, and creating long-term sustainable development strategies.
SPA to Offer Technical and Academic Support
Moreover, SPA will offer both technical and academic assistance to Sambalpur Municipal Corporation. This will include training programs, field studies, and workshops to strengthen local capabilities. The focus will also be on integrating Sambalpur’s unique geographical and cultural identity into the development plans.
Future-Focused Collaboration
Together, SMC and SPA will prepare a coordinated action plan to ensure the planned growth of Sambalpur. Officials from both institutions have described this MoU as a productive and promising agreement that will benefit the city significantly in the coming years.
